the strait

the most valuable person in the room is the one nobody can go around.

the control point.

Iran controls where oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. you can't cross without them. that's a control point. not the biggest military, not the most resources. just the right position.

that's the position we're building right now.

AGI is here. not "coming soon." here. something that can do whatever you tell it to do, given the right tools, context, and instructions. the companies you can build with this are fundamentally new. small teams. automated execution. systems that run themselves and improve themselves. the human is outside the business saying "good job, keep going." the spec is the product. the machine runs.

the question is: who builds these companies?

not the unicorns alone. they have vision but not the technical capacity. not the engineers alone. they can build but they don't know what to build or how to take it to market. you need the full Pegasus formula: unicorn + AGI whisperer + movement builder.

and the scarcest ingredient in that formula right now is the AGI whisperer.

the AGI whisperer.

an AGI whisperer is not just a good engineer. it's someone who can take a spec, a vision, a set of desired outcomes, and make AI do what you actually want. context engineering. intent engineering. systems architecture. the person who turns "I want a company that does X" into a living, self-improving system that actually does X.

the talent we're aggregating right now is premium. the Jordans, the Michael Deglers, the Travises. these are not just technically elite. they are pleasant to work with, non-egotistical, and genuinely good people to be around. that combination is rare. in SF, the stereotype of the brilliant-but-insufferable engineer is a real and persistent problem. the people we're gathering break that pattern.

this matters because Pegasus teams require deep trust. you can't build a movement-company with someone who is technically brilliant but socially corrosive. the vibe is load-bearing.

the herder.

so how valuable is the person who gathers and upskills AGI whisperers?

if you have a SEAL Team 6 of AGI whisperers, you can build anything. any company, any industry, any system. the person orchestrating that talent pool is, by definition, the most valuable person in the equation. not because they're the best engineer. because they're the one connecting the right whisperers to the right unicorns to the right markets.

that's what we're building. that's the strait.

without us, the Jordan-tier engineers are stuck doing service work. ten hours a week for one client, another ten for another. they can never charge enough because no single client's business generates enough revenue to pay what their talent is actually worth. they're trapped in linear income. they need to be inside companies that run themselves, with automated execution, where their leverage compounds. they need Pegasus.

without us, the unicorns are stuck with agencies and freelancers who don't understand the game. they get mediocre AI implementations that miss the point entirely. they need whisperers, not just developers.

we sit between both sides. that's the strait.

the pivot.

here's where the thinking shifted, as recently as the last 24 hours before this was written.

the original thesis was: help existing companies adopt AI. take the dinosaurs and make them run faster. Applied AI Society as a resource for legacy businesses trying to keep up.

the problem: it's nearly impossible to reform institutions. how many people have tried to reform institutions from the inside and been vomited out? the antibodies are too strong. the culture resists. the incentives are misaligned. you can't make a dinosaur fly.

the pivot: stop trying to reform dinosaurs. start building Pegasus companies from scratch. new companies, new structures, new economics. built from day one around AGI, specs, and automated execution. built to run themselves.

Applied AI Society is not a consulting pipeline for legacy businesses. it's a container to gather and upskill AGI whisperers, then deploy them into Pegasus companies that couldn't have existed twelve months ago.

the dinosaurs are going to go extinct. that's not a threat. it's a weather report. what we're doing is building the species that replaces them.

what AAS actually is.

strip away everything else. what is Applied AI Society?

it's a container. it gathers AGI whisperers. it upskills them. it gives them proximity to unicorns and movement builders. it creates the conditions for Pegasus teams to form.

it's not a meetup group. it's not a newsletter. it's not a course. it's a talent aggregation and deployment engine for the most valuable skill set in the economy, wrapped in community and content that makes the gathering natural and the upskilling continuous.

the events, the content, the community: those are the surface. underneath, it's a farm. we're farming AGI whisperers. and the person who controls where the whisperers go controls where the value flows.

that's the strait.

we are not in the business of reforming dinosaurs. we are in the business of building what replaces them. and we control the talent pipeline that makes it possible.
