this is not a list of rules. it's a discipline. a way of operating that we believe separates people who build things that last from people who react to whatever is in front of them.

meta-thinking is the new thinking.

AI is rapidly absorbing the execution layer. drafting, researching, building, testing, responding. increasingly done by agents. the human's job is shifting from playing the game to designing the game. defining the court, the rules, the objectives, the scoring. that is the work.

you are a game designer. games are well-engineered systems. you're designing games for agents to play in. objectives, rules, guardrails. you define those. the agents are the players. James Naismith didn't play basketball. he invented basketball. he defined the court, the rules, the objectives, the scoring. then other people played. that's the posture.

a productive day might involve very little typing and a lot of thinking. you might spend two hours testing ideas, refining a system, poking at edge cases. you might write a single document that redefines how your agents approach an entire category of work. and then you might take a walk. that is not laziness. that is the highest-leverage use of human attention in an era where execution is increasingly automated.

stressed-out people don't know how to strategize. that's exactly why this discipline matters. it's a muscle. and building it is critical to breaking the cycles that keep people reactive instead of strategic.

research before you commit.

do the work of understanding before the work of building. map the landscape, evaluate options, understand constraints. reaction is not strategy.

protect your temple.

your body, your mind, your attention. every decision is an attention allocation decision. guard strategic thinking time. the right partnership, the right opportunity, the right choice is 100 times better than the second best option. not 10% better. categorically different.

document the truth.

if it's only in your head, it doesn't exist for the system. make knowledge legible, structured, and actionable. for both humans and AI. track not just what changed, but why it changed.

prove it on yourself first.

your own operation is the first laboratory. before packaging something for others, deploy it on your own workflow. N=1 before N=many.

speed serves direction, not the reverse.

optimization without clarity is drift. know what you're building and why before you build it faster. the companies that fly are the ones that thought before they moved.
